From humble beginnings, rehearsing in a shipping container a stone’s throw from the church where Desmond Tutu organised the escape of the most wanted anti-Apartheid activists of Soweto, BCUC have grown to become one of the world’s most celebrated bands, playing the biggest stages at some of the most important festivals in the world: Glastonbury West Holts, Roskilde, Afropunk Brooklyn, Dour, Worldwide, Womad, Fusion, Sziget, FMM Sines, Beaches Brew, Boomtown, Colours of Ostrava, Couleur Café.

Massa Dembele ist Songwriter, Griot, Perkussionist und Meister der Kamele N’Goni, eine westafrikanische Harfe. Am 17. April erscheint sein neues Album „Falato“ auf Not OK Records – es ist sein drittes – und sein erstes mit einer großen Bandbesetzung. Drums, Bass, Gitarre, flirrende Synthesizersoli, knackige Blechbläser und über allem die Stimme und die Kamele N’Goni von Massa Dembele: „Falato“, in Bobo-Dioulasso / Burkina Faso mit lokalen Musikern aufgenommen, ist Afrobeat und Jazz, westafrikanischer Soul, Desert Blues und Griot-Musik.
